Series V

Series V is a special one in that I decided to do a full color edition. Mostly full color, anyhow. This is possible thanks to Katy Murray who happened to bring her marker set along one evening to Jeff and Erin's house. Don't get used to the color though. I'm unlikely to do this often.

• Jeff's Liver Has a Fit •

Before we get to the color pieces there are two traditional style drawings that I did at Ian and Kim's New Years party. I did some these drawings mostly because I was feeling out of place at the party. This probably is not a healthy thing, to draw up into myself and imagine Jeff being mutilated, but it relaxed me a little bit, which I was starting to need. Jeff was enjoying the punch a little too much, if you know what I mean. And I think you do. I realize I totally screwed up what the inside of the human body looks like. I wasn't thinking much about what a liver looks like because there were more pressing matters at hand.

• Felicity Kills Jeff With Her New Robotic Arm •

Felicity is one of my top favorite people, so sooner or later she'd be bound to make an appearance in these drawings. Personally, I think that if anyone deserves to have a robotic arm of death it would be her. She might wield this arm with a certain responsibility, or at the very least everyone would be too dead to raise a stink.

These past two premiered early in Issue 7 of A Pic A Day.

• Jeff Has a Dimensional Crisis •

I began this one at the New Years party but didn't finish it until a week later at Jeff and Erin's. I bought some black paper so I could try it out with a silver paint marker, and the results tend to be nice enough I think. The drawback is that it's sorta tricky to tell what you're looking at. My only real goal for this picture was that I wanted to draw Jeff's brain being sucked out his ear.

• Jeff Doesn't Make It Through the Temple in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" •

Remember the opening sequence of "Raiders," where Indy takes special caution crossing the floor leading to the sacred statue that he's trying to claim? Recall how once he takes the statue its pedestal drops and the temple begins to collapse, leaving him no time to retrace his careful steps? As he runs he steps on the wrong floor blocks, causing thousands of tiny arrows to shoot from the walls, just narrowly missing him. This is the same thing, except Jeff didn't pay attention to the floor stones.

• Jeff's Nerdom Slips •

Jeff has a fancy for lightsabers and Jedi. In fact, he seems to think himself a modern day Obi-Wan Kenobi as he flips around on his trampolines with lightsabers in hand, or battles on stage during Whitmer High School's Christmas show. Well sooner or later he's bound to slip, the consequences of which are not only horribly violent but also handily self-cauterizing.

Remember kids, everybody you know is full of meat!

Jedi Jeff

Jeff thinks that he is a Jedi.

• Jeff's Early Trauma •

Let's take a step back in time, to the golden year 1985. Jeff's family is attacked by the Japanese mob while he hides under the bed. As sword strike after sword strike tears the flesh on top of the mattress, the blood slowly seeps through to drip on young Jeff's terrified face. He stifles the need to scream out in horror.

Yes, I stole this from Kill Bill, and I will not apologize for it.

• Jeff's Boating Accident •

Jeff's going to need a bigger boat. He thought this would be a relaxing day out on the lake in his little boat, fishing for whatever he could catch. "I might even hang it on the wall," he thought. "That is, if I don't eat it first." Who would have expected the fates to deal this hand?

• Erin Practices Using Hypodermic Needles •

Despite Erin being a trained and registered nurse, she probably still needs to practice a little every now and then. I know I'd want my nurse to keep tabs on their skills. Now what better subject for practice than her always helpful husband, Jeff?

I feel bad for drawing her hair so badly.

• Jeff's Dinner Disagrees •

Jeff sure does like to eat. Now it's either that spaghetti there or the facehugger that laid an egg in his throat earlier, but Jeff's suffering some mean indigestion.

The creature that bursts from his chest is so cute, what with its inner jaws and acid blood. It's got a wonderful defense mechanism: you don't dare kill it.
