Dungeons & Dragons Materials

24 March 2022

Over the years I've played an occasional session or two of Dungeons & Dragons with friends. This is a repository and reliquary of materials pertaining to each campaign.

2000 - 2001
DUNGEON MASTER: Jeff

PLAYERS: Aliesha as Blue (Elven Ranger), Carey as Ivy (Human Rogue), Josh as Horatio (Human Rogue), and Shawn as Tarkus (Human Monk)

BACKGROUND: Jeff and Josh worked on developing the character of Horatio, a human rogue, in December 2000, though it took until February for an actual game to develop. That turned out to be a one-off campaign that began while Josh was out of the house, and he joined in a few hours late using the character sheet from two months prior. Jeff acted as DM with Aliesha, Carey, and Shawn playing before Josh joined. Carey's human rogue, Ivy, learned a hard lesson about curbing his kleptomania, as looting every fallen foe holds up the entire group. Once learned, the campaign was free to move forward.

2003?
DUNGEON MASTER: Jeff

PLAYERS: Josh as Merkin Muffley (Human Sorcerer), and others not recorded for posterity

BACKGROUND: This was a one-off, single-day campaign using characters that Jeff as DM had thrown together beforehand. This made it the only time Josh hasn't played Horatio, instead finding himself in the guise of Merkin Muffley, a sorcerer bearing the name of the president from Dr. Strangelove. The stats sheet is undated and, after so many years, memory fails in the task of recalling both when this campaign took place and who exactly participated, to say nothing of their character names and attributes. My suspicion is that it's in the 2002 or 2003 timeframe, which means the game may be logged and needs some digging to uncover.

2004
DUNGEON MASTER: Jeff

PLAYERS: Carey as unrecorded, Erin as unrecorded, Ian as Caruthers Willowby, Josh as Horatio (Human Bard), Marie as unrecorded, Phil as unrecorded, Shawn as unrecorded

BACKGROUND: Much like the 2003? campaign, the stats sheets for this one-off campaign were put together by DM Jeff beforehand, who returned Josh to Horatio, though classing him as a bard this time around. The makeup of players appears to have also included Ian, who introduced the quickly beloved and potentially Scottish character of Caruthers "The Yellow Dart" Willowby, whose reputation outgrew his time in the game. Phil joined the game late, and the rest of the group appears to have been Carey, Erin, Marie, and Shawn.

2005 - 2006
DUNGEON MASTER: Jeff

PLAYERS: Charles as Toshiro (Human Monk), Erin as Ellyjabella (Gnome), Devin as Keito (Halfling Rogue) and Jihad (Human Swashbuckler), Ian as Mesmer (Human Psionic), James as Lugbur (Half-orc Barbarian) and Angelo (Wizard Cleric), Josh as Horatio (Human Rogue), Katy as Ki (Human Bard), and Paul as Andrew (Human Wizard), with Marie playing a character while visiting

BACKGROUND: This was the big campaign, which lasted from the autumn of 2005 through late 2006, and ended mostly because Jeff&Erin moved. This campaign wildly outgrew Dungeon Master Jeff's intentions and expectations. During this campaign, Horatio, normally an idiot with a frying pan and fear of magic, became a self-proclaimed emperor with a large and loyal following of Horatlings, tending to his fleet of flying ships, along with a noble team made up of Charles, Erin, Devin, Ian, James, Katy, and Paul. The campaign went on long enough to become the most memorable of all those which preceded it, and enabled far more world building and character development than any earlier game had allowed.
