Friday 8 June 2001.
It's Reigning Frogs made its gala premier at Rally-by-the-River on Friday 8 June 2001. Rally-by-the-River is a big party along the banks of the Maumee River every Friday during the summer. Anyway, it's a loud, boisterous bash that I'd rather not attend. Personal preference, I guess. But anyhoo, the frogs were officially unveiled at the Rally. All in all, there were about fifteen or so frogs out on display.
Our frog was in place, too. Mounted in front of the KeyBank on Summit Street, right next to COSI, the frog was in a very prominent place, right next to the road. Heck, it's the first frog you see coming down Summit Street!
Over the summer, more and more frogs were introduced. They remained on display until 1 October, when they were auctioned off, with the money donated to charity. After the auction, our frog found its permanent home in the children's section in the Main Branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
(LEFT) The frog on display! Unfortunately it blends into the foilage a bit.

(LEFT) Mum tries unsuccessfully to get out of frame. Sure, I coulda' cropped the picture, but that ain't fun!
(RIGHT) Another angle of the same. One Seagate, the home of Owen's-Illinois rises tall in the background.
This building can also be seen in my photos of the Willis B. Boyer. The smaller blue building is COSI.
(LEFT) A close-up of the plaque mounted at the front-left foot. One of the mounting bolts can be seen.
(RIGHT) The frog's POV as it gazes across the street. As you can see, the frog is easily viewed by a lot of people each day.
(LEFT) Another view upon the frog. I'm not quite sure what the building in the background is, so I'll check next time I'm down there.
UPDATE, 7.14.01: The building has two stairways that run to the Citiwalk complex below the surface of the Earth.
(RIGHT) In this picture, the large red key logo can be seen on KeyBank's wall.
(LEFT) The frog sitting proudly on the sidewalk.
(RIGHT) Besides the main plaque, the two smaller ones have "Do Not Touch" printed on them.
(LEFT) The frog can be seen here with COSI's outdoor fun area in the background. Sorry about the image quality.
(RIGHT) A three-quarter view on the frog.
(ABOVE) The frog surveys his new turf. This is his home 'till October.
There it is! Now, see our additions
