Good. Now where was I? That's right...
A MONTH LATER...
Thursday 12 July 2001.
Due to a bit of miscommunication, the Frog wasn't exactly what the sponsors expected. They had initially wanted a Frog with a crown, scepter, and little butterfly, but we hadn't been told such. So the Frog was built without them. The day after it was put on display, we learned of this. So the next month was spent fabricating the items. The crown was built from a Rubbermaid wastebasket with this really nasty Bondo polyester resin stuff coating it. The scepter was a three foot copper tube with wooden end pieces purchased from Michael's crafts. Add in the $15 butterfly, and you got the three items we spent all day Thursday 12 July assembling to the Frog. Through all the trials and tribulations of the day, we finally got the stuff mounted, which was no easy task. It took lots more resin to attach the scepter to the Frog. We had it on pretty darn good. Sadly, it was not to last long.
(ABOVE) Shawn sports the crown, scepter, and butterfly, pretending to be the Frog.
(LEFT) I took this in the car on the way to the Frog. This is the top of the scepter.
(RIGHT) Similarly, here's the bottom of it.
(LEFT) Mum preps the crown for attachment.
(RIGHT) Another angle. The scepter lies nearby.
(LEFT) After we glued the crown on, we steadied it with lots of duct tape until it dried.
(RIGHT) A down angle on the duct taped crown as mum tried to figure out the best way to mount the scepter.
(LEFT) The butterfly is duct taped on 'till the glue dries.
(RIGHT) The crown and butterfly are still duct taped onto the frog pending the drying of the glue.
(LEFT) Everything's all duct taped on as it dries. Ah, the wonders of duct tape!
(RIGHT) The butterfly's all done!
(LEFT) By 9:30, we had finally finished! Here's the finished product! At last!.
(RIGHT) Another angle, showing the butterfly in place. COSI sign in background.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. In this case, it was the very next day. Not even 24 hours after we had completed work, Shawn found out that it had been vandalized by ICP fans. The scepter was missing and Shawn was fighting mad. The next morning, Saturday the 14th, we went down to the Frog to see the damage and do an interview with Channel 11 News over the damage done. Needless to say, the butterfly was also gone by this time. And Shawn was even more grumpy than ever.
(ABOVE) Here's mum being interviewed by the news reporter.
(LEFT) A view of the vandalized Frog.
(RIGHT) No scepter. No butterfly.
(LEFT) Between the toes remains the resin mess that once held the scepter in place.
(RIGHT) The scar below the dimple is where the scepter was resined to the Frog.
(LEFT) Just another view down onto the Frog's head and crown.
(RIGHT) The silicone where the butterfly was mounted can be seen in the knee.

The missing parts were replaced twice before being moved into the library in October. Even then, the frog requires some repair. The butterfly is broken and the new sceptor is missing its top. One wonders how this happens in a library, when the frog is located adjacent the checkout desk.
