Definition:

Pensive is the state of being in deep thought, especially over serious matters. A person that is pensive is usually quiet and detached from their immediate surroundings, however this is not necessarily the case.

Analysis:

There are currently nine photos that classify as pensive, leaving us to conclude that this is an emotion that Paul is especially given to feeling when he is being photographed. Indeed, this state provided the inspiration for the study of Paul's photographed emotions and this subsequent report on them.
