About Kung-Fu Capers

Kung-Fu Capers is oft times considered a landmark piece of cinematography, as it is the first film made by critically acclaimed director Bryan S MacAfee.

Having been trained in the field of martial arts, MacAfee was perhaps the only man who could take on this phenomenal undertaking. Hiring Andy Black, also a professional martial artist was a brilliant move on the part of MacAfee. This factor brought a realism to the screen that would otherwise have been lacking. It has been said that MacAfee would have waited two years if he needed to in order to have Black in his film. Luckily, Black was free at the time, and even brought his own wardrobe.

This film, a martial arts action thriller, began the monumental filming process 22 September 1997. Kung-Fu Capers broke the box office in ticket sales, bypassing the lower quality Titanic. In fact, there are some who say that Titanic is actually a rip-off of Kung-Fu. Consider how Megan chases Andy, in much the same way Lovejoy chases Jack and Rose. Kate Winslet even runs with the same gait as Andy! An obvious rip-off if you ask me! (Worth mentioning is that Titanic came out more than two months after Kung-Fu Capers was released.) Kung-Fu Capers was also nominated for an Academy Award, but lost to Titanic. MacAfee was arrested trying to wring the necks of the judges and cursing a plague on their houses. He claimed the Awards were staged because Titanic had the advantage of Celine Dion and Kung-Fu didn't have any Canadians. The judge dropped the case, as he was a Kung-Fu Capers fan himself.

Since its initial release, a home video of Kung-Fu Capers has never been available. But now through the miracle of genetic engineering, JG Enterprises is proud to bring this martial arts classic into your own living room! Kung-Fu Capers is to be included in the home video release of A House in the Woods Special Edition.

Kung-Fu Capers is a whooping 3 minutes and 40 seconds long and is rated PG for some martial arts violence.
