Shatner Day 2008 was a resounding success! Charles, Dan, and Katie came over to watch a random assortment of movies, each title only decided upon moments before watching. Throughout the day we watched Adventures in Babysitting, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Short Circuit, *batteries not included, and The Cat's Meow. Save for the last, we basically had an eighties movie marathon.
We also baked a Depression-era egg-less cake to satisfy Chuck's ardent Lent requirements, which expired at midnight. It was tasty but we put way too much frosting on it to cover the fact that we can't make a cake. Luckily, Katie came to the rescue with a Jell-o cake that was simply delish and expertly made. Our Depression cake was depressing in comparison.
Charles and I also decided that it would be prudent to have more of these open-schedule movie days in the future. All of these marathons with a dedicated theme and pre-set schedule get a little tiresome after a while.
As a reminder, we return to our regularly scheduled Galactica marathon next Saturday, March 29.

It shall be necessary to change our plans this weekend.
There will be no Battlestar Galactica. Night Five will be on Saturday, March 29.
Instead we're going to have an open-schedule movie day. I figure that every movie day we've had since last summer has had a fixed schedule determined well in advance. After all this Galactica we're due for a break.
It is William Shatner's birthday and anything goes.
Feel free to show up for god knows what! Don't hesitate to bring something with you, 'cause we're starting at 3:00!
DISCLAIMER: Just because we're celebrating Shatner doesn't mean we're going to watch Star Trek. Don't worry.
