New Year's 2008
Monday 31 December 2007

AKA, Snakes on a New Year.

New Year's 2008 was a bit quieter than usual. No big parties for us, only Samuel L. Jackson screaming his disdain.

Dan had suggested the notion of holding a viewing of SNAKES ON A PLANE at some point over Christmas break. This eventually rolled into New Year's, an idea that we had last year but never arranged. This idea is simple: at the moment the clock strikes midnight, Jackson declares that he has had it with the snakes on the plane.

We had the times planned out and started right on schedule but the DVD paused slightly on two chapter breaks and set the film back by six seconds or so after midnight was called.

We also watched Sky Captain and Predator (the latter with Mike Nelson's Riff Trax commentary). All in all, I rather preferred this small gathering of friends watching silly movies to the traditional outing with a bunch of noisy, raucous people bent on partying their hearts out. To each his own, I guess.

Attendees: Josh Gulch, Dan Norton, Charles Meyer, Felicity Powers, and Scott Cook.

We witness the slow breakdown of a man Dan seems happy about something. It is probably entirely in his head.

The things that happen when I leave the room... Felicity repeatedly hits Charles' cell phone with a croquet mallet. I have no idea why they were doing this.

I should really get some sickness baggies down there Felicity messages while Scott vomits into his hand.

Between Henry Winkler and Tony Danza, Dan has an odd choice of roll models Dan enters every room like he's Henry Winkler.

It's the healing process Dan finally stopped feeling remorse for lost loves and got himself some dang lemon cake.

Now he can't keep telling everybody that he has lived a Generations-free life This photo exists to prove that Charles has conclusively been in the same room as Star Trek: Generations.

Dan is wanted for breaking kittens in five states and a province If there were a kitten in the room, Dan would have snapped it in half already.

Though I can't really blame her entirely Felicity fell asleep during Predator! Oh!

It's better than rabbit ears, no? Charles can channel UHF signals by rubbing his hair in certain directions.

Already canceled by Fox Felicity hides behind herself. Scott chews on himself.

This has been another "Creative Uses for Your Body."

With electricity and a tv set Between I Pity the Fool, Sky Captain, and Snakes on a Plane, Dan is all set to live on a remote desert isle.
