Our on-going Star Trek Marathon continued last night with four more episodes. Dan, Charles, Felicity, and Katie came by for the show.

First up was The Conscience of the King, which is sort of a pokey episode. Next was The Galileo Seven, an episode that kind of misses its mark. Then we watched Court Martial, a pretty decent episode.

After this Felicity left to go see the new movie again so we watched The Naked Time, that episode we had previously skipped because we'd already watched it. Well, Charles, Dan, and Katie weren't there when we'd watched it, nor when we'd skipped it, so watching an episode they'd all missed made perfect sense after Felicity left.

After that episode we watched The Goonies (dir. Richard Donner, 1985). Katie hadn't seen it and I hadn't seen it since like 1990, so watching it was long overdue. Charles left halfway through. Dan and Katie left after it was over. All in all, a productive day, I think.

Saturday, May 30 will be the next potential day for continuing the Trek Marathon.

This coming Saturday Felicity and I decided that a return to our ongoing Star Trek: The Original Series Marathon might be due. There's some talk about going to see the new Star Trek movie and I'm thinking I may need a cold shower and some old-school Trek to make me feel better afterwards.

In two weeks, on Saturday, May 16, there will not be a movie day due to a field trip to Star Trek: The Exhibition in Detroit.

This evening was the second outing in our Star Trek Marathon and boy, did we make good ground. All told Felicity and I watched seven episodes, bringing us up to the end of the twelfth episode of the first season (which lasted for thirty episodes). Katie joined us for the first two episodes but left early to pursue other pastimes.

Tonight we made our way through "The Enemy Within," "The Man Trap," "Charlie X," "Balance of Terror," "What Are Little Girls Made Of?," "Dagger of the Mind," and "Miri."

It's too bad that we had to end on "Miri," but at least we're done with it and never have to do that one again.

We also skipped over "The Naked Time" because we just watched that one a month ago and didn't feel like we had to watch it again so soon.

Next Saturday will not be Star Trek. I will announce the big plan soon.

NO MORE BLAH BLAH BLAH

A quick note to say that Star Trek Day 2 will begin tomorrow at 3:00. We'll watch however many episodes we manage to get through. That is all.

Tonight we began the Star Trek Original Series Marathon. It's about time too, since Felicity and I have only been going on now for over three years about how we have to do this. We got off to a good start though!

Katie and Felicity arrived first and we got a little bit of a late start, as we watched all of the Next Generation remixes on YouTube, then took a brisk walk around the block and went to Meijer in search of candy. We were even joined by Dan for a spell before he departed, to be replaced with Charles and Carla.

Our episodes included the original, rejected pilot, "The Cage," with Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike. Next was the unprecedented second pilot that NBC decided to pick up, "Where No Man Has Gone Before." We also watched "The Corbomite Maneuver" and "Mudd's Women" before calling it a night.

The plan, as it stands, is to reconvene next Saturday for another round of episodes. Until then, there's this:

The Supreme Privy Council has collaborated and decided this year's complete series marathon. Last year we dedicated our lives to Battlestar Galactica. This time around it's going to be Star Trek. Specifically, the Original Series which ran from 1966-1969, lasting for three seasons and eighty episodes.

We will be watching them in production order (as opposed to the notoriously rearranged airdate order). We don't have a full viewing schedule set in stone yet, but that will be one of the first things to be worked out once we get underway. Basically, if we watch five episodes in one go then it will take us sixteen days to finish. Six episodes yields thirteen days, and so on.

Day One is now scheduled to begin this Saturday, April 11 at 5:00 PM. Our schedule will include, at the very least, "The Cage," "Where No Man Has Gone Before," "The Corbomite Maneuver," "Mudd's Women," and "The Enemy Within."

As always, this is an open invite to anyone who wants to catch some Star Trek with us over the spring and summer. I will post updates and schedule changes each week to keep everybody apprised of our movements. Unlike Galactica, the original Star Trek did not feature complex arc-storytelling. Since each episode tells a stand-alone story, I won't be offering re-run days if anyone misses this time around.

We will continue to offer non-Trek movie days during the run of this marathon as events crop up.
