This past Saturday's movie day was a fairly productive one. Dan, Charles, and Paul came over and we got some things watched, we did.

We began with "Chains," (dir. Mandie Fletcher, 1986, UK) the final episode of the second season of Black Adder, which Dan wanted to watch because it guest starred Hugh Laurie. It also starred Stephen Fry, so it was like a mini reunion of A Bit of Fry and Laurie, three years before that show hit the airwaves. Laurie would become a series regular starting in the third season, but I still haven't picked up that DVD.

Next up we did Pet Sematary (dir. Mary Lambert, 1989, USA). Paul arrived about forty minutes into it causing Charles to try and recap the story thus far. It's a movie that, when you try to explain it, makes absolutely no sense at all. Better to just sit back and watch.

It was Dan's dream to watch Batman and Robin (dir. Joel Schumaker, 1997, USA) with added RiffTrax commentary. It was Dan's dream which made it our dream by proxy. The movie is a disaster. Batman and Robin is what happens when everybody involved just stops caring, throw up their hands, and allow nature to take its toll. Sad, sad, sad.

Pet Semetary and Batman and Robin were both scored by Elliot Goldenthal. He also did Alien3, whose score we discussed a couple weeks ago. This is like last month when we inadvertently watched two movies with music by Angelo Badalamenti back-to-back. Odd.

We did our annual dual Big Boy outing for 2009, since it just slipped out of last year's schedule. So now we're set for this autumn. On the way back Dan recorded a vlog entry about his life as of late. It's hosted on YouTube because of some anecdotes that shouldn't be posted on Facebook.

Charles and Paul departed so Dan and I tried to watch Pygmalion (dir. Anthony Asquith & Leslie Howard, 1938, UK) but stopped it early because he was dozing off. So we'll watch that another time.
