So wow, like, I haven't posted any new movie haikus since July 10. It hasn't seemed that long. There is a pretty big batch from over the summer that I still haven't posted because scanning them took so long and then I got distracted by JoshFest. Then I went on hiatus. I'll toss those up at some point in the near future. Until then, here's last Saturday's haiku revival.

Dan, Katie, Felicity, Charles, Carla, and Mike came by for a random movie day last Saturday. It was pretty dang nice out so a brief walk outside was very much in order. Then we got busy. The first movie we picked was Death at a Funeral (dir. Frank Oz, 2007, UK). This one was terrific and featured Alan Tudyk whacked out on acid, sitting naked on the roof. I recommend it for that alone, but the rest is definitely worth it. Also, Hollywood is apparently going to make their own version with Chris Rock. Yeah.

That said, here's our thoughts on this one. We start with Katie reminiscing.

Charles lists off the highlights of the movie his life.

Dan is a rebel who refuses to be ruled by syllables. Power to the people!

My medical advice is sound and based on example.

Next up we watched Labyrinth (dir. Jim Henson, 1986, USA). It's not until you get into it that you remember just how crazy bizarre the whole thing is. Nothing against the movie, since it's fine and all, but it's kind of insane.

I applaud the laurels of my favorite character.

Katie will never be the same after spending so long around David Bowie's man-parts.

Charles once again perplexes us with his haikus that are really open letters to the characters in the film.

Finally, Carla joins us for the first time in writing haikus with a threefer. In her premier poem she points out what may be a significant plot hole.

Her next two are character sketches. It seems as if David Bowie affected the ladies the most.

And that's all of 'em. As I said earlier, I'll try to make a priority out of getting the lot from the summer posted once I re-sort them to remember what movie each haiku references. I'll look at the weekend or early next week for that.
