Today we had the last movie day that we'll get out of the summer hiatus, though that's not enough to disrupt the schedule. Just because classes resume Monday shouldn't mean any need to change our movie schedules. I can still favor Thursdays and Saturdays, as usual. There shall be no disruption of signal.

That said, today was pretty good. Felicity wanted to play volleyball but a snag involving missing equipment put an end to that. This is fine with me as I would rather play something like that in November, when it's much cooler out and I don't wind up all sweaty and disgusting before too long, having to spend the rest of the day a nappy mess. Generate heat energy when you need it to keep warm!

Those plans dashed, Charles, Carla, Dan, Felicity, Laura, and I watched the RiffTrax dissing of Night of the Living Dead (dir. George Romero, 1968) instead. Laura had to leave for a spell to attend to responsible things, but she returned to see out the end of the film, after which she and Dan departed.

Next up was the original, non-musical version of
Little Shop of Horrors (dir. Roger Corman, 1960). It's a fun little thing, shot in a mere two days. Given Felicity's love of the later musical I've always felt she ought to see the original, against her protests that it might sully her impressions. I don't think it had that effect, though she got all fussy about needing to watch the musical. This is where Charles and Carla left.

So Felicity and I watched the musical version of Little Shop of Horrors (dir. Frank Oz, 1986). It seems odd that, whenever the two of us watch this movie, everyone else tends to leave. I guess our friends just can't handle all the awesome.

And that's it. School resumes Monday and I am lukewarm about it. I don't relish the return to sleepless nights and never being caught up with all the reading but, on the other hand, I haven't anything better to do.
