Movie day tomorrow.

Today's movie day went extremely well. A+++ WOULD DO AGAIN

Charles showed up first for Tora! Tora! Tora! (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!) (dir. Richard Fleischer, 1970), in commemoration of this now being Sunday, December 7, the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I watch the movie every year. Charles hadn't seen it, so it made sense to make a thing of it. We got started at five, nearly an hour later than we intended to.

Katie, Nina, and Felicity showed up about halfway through that movie, just in time for its slightly drawn-out attack sequence. I like the movie just lots, but the actual attack does drag a smidge.

But it finally ended and we threw in Mitchell! (dir. Andrew McLaglen, 1975), in the form of Mystery Science Theater 3000 show 512. This fueled our Martin Balsam (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!) fixation, his having previously been in Tora! Tora! Tora! (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!). Maybe, someday, and with a little more planning an effort, we may have a Martin Balsam (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!) movie day. I should have brought down Psycho.

Martin Balsam (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!) was not to last, however, because the ladies demanded some Bakula to recharge their tender hearts so an episode of Quantum Leap was in order. The episode, "Another Mother," was one where Sam leaps into a woman and has to save his son from some dudes in a van whose motives are not entirely clear.

We ate pizza and animal crackers. Or animal cookies. Or whatever they are. GOD DANG THAT MOVIE

Katie and Nina bid us adieu, it being past the midnight hour at this point. Nina only visits once every two years, so I guess I'll see her again around this time in 2010.

Charles, Felicity, Felicity's friend Corey, and I watched Sukiyaki Western Django (dir. Takashi Miike, 2007), a bizarre western ... samurai ... honor, sacrifice, love ... sort of twisted thing. I'm still not sure I didn't just hallucinate the entire thing since I remain foggy on what it was about. A lot of stuff happened that didn't make sense to my brain. It was decent though.

Now I'm too pooped to think about that movie. It took a lot out of me so bed harkens on the horizon. T'was a good day indeed. Good night world. Goodnight Martin Balsam (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!). Goodnight.

Movie day tomorrow.

Charles and I are going to be watching Tora! Tora! Tora! in recognition of Sunday being the 67th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. 12/7!

I know some might be like, "war movie ... eff that." There'll certainly be non-war movies after if that's more your thang.

So figure 4ish for Tora!³, 6ish for everything else.
