Yesterday Charles and I had another random movie day. It was also another day where only he showed up, so there's a calendar of the rest of the year at the end of this entry.

We watched a happy quartet of films:

The City of Lost Children (dir. Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 1995. France) Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (dir. Shusuke Kaneko, 1995. Japan) Night of the Hunter (dir. Charles Laughton, 1955. USA) Mutiny on the Bounty (dir. Frank Lloyd, 1935. USA)

I was surprised to find that Charles Laughton directed Night of the Hunter. Apparently it's the only film he directed. That's why I made Charles watch Mutiny on the Bounty which stars Laughton as one of my favorite megalomaniacs on film in the role of Captain Bligh.
