Tonight Charles, Dan, and Laura came around to watch movies with me!

Our lineup began with "Hide and Seek," a first-season episode of seaQuest DSV that guest-starred a moustachioed William Shatner. He wanted to create an army of dolphins to take out Italy and help his son. It was worth it for the awkward scene of Shatner climbing into Darwin's pool and swimming in his suit.

Next we watched Hot Fuzz (dir. Edgar White, 2007, UK), which I had not previously seen despite repeatedly being told I had to. I enjoyed it a great deal I must say. Never have I seen a movie that so honored Point Break as a revered piece of cinematic beauty.

Then we watched Breakfast at Tiffany's (dir. Blake Edwards, 1961, USA), featuring the lovely Audrey Hepburn's most iconic performance, even if I prefer her in My Fair Lady. Still, Audrey's so much fun to watch and, despite Holly Golightly being just a terrible person, Audrey somehow makes us worry about her. Great movie though.

Eventually only Charles and I remained in the end to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still (dir. Robert Wise, 1951, USA) about Keanu Reeves Michael Rennie telling the Earth that it's full of douchebags who gotta clean up their act. An absolute classic that should definitely be watched by anyone who has eyeballs.

All in all, a great evening.

The history presentation's been pushed back an additional two days so I don't feel too guilty about eyeballing a movie day for Saturday.

How does five o'clock sound?

Lemme know.

Repeated attempts to have a movie day this weekend repeatedly fell through. For that reason I am placing an early request hold on next Saturday. The weekend after that I may be preoccupied on a presentation for school and might be unavailable. We shall see.

As always, the movie marathons site is usually kept up to date.
