So ends Indiana Jones Day. Charles arrived at noon for the marathon portion, beginning with Raiders of the Lost Ark and was the only one to show up until the last twenty minutes of Temple of Doom (which I learned to be his favorite Indy movie [what?]) when Katie, Ben, and Peter showed up. During The Last Crusade James and Felicity arrived.

To the theater we went, where we met Dan. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a weird movie. On one hand it was fantastic to have Indy back on the screen. On the other hand, it was much more heavy science-fiction than really felt right for an Indiana Jones film. I won't divulge any pertinent plot points, but the sci-fi slant just seemed too crazy for Indy, even after the supernatural stories involving face-exploding arks, Mola Ram's heart-ripping ritual, and knights of the Holy Grail. Still, though we all agreed on this matter, everybody seemed to have a positive opinion of the final result. I didn't hear a single disparaging review from anyone in our group over dinner at IHOP.

The new movie comes out on Thursday but we're looking to go on Saturday, May 24. Before going to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull we'll be watching the three films that preceded it: Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade.

We plan to start at 12:00 noon. This way we can organize for those who want to attend the pre-movie marathon and those who may only wish to show up at the theater for the fourth film sometime around 8:00. This will also give us a break for non-movie R&R and maybe food.
