Cast in the Woods


Unless you're Godfrey Reggio, most movies do well with a cast of characters. Here's a guide to those found in this particular film. Click on the link to go to their picture.

JOHN MANTWAN. (Played by John Manton)John is by all means our hero, believe it or not. The son of a GRAFIA leader, John and his girlfriend Kristine abandon their feuding families (al la the Capulets and Montagues, but without all the swords) and set out to live together. After Kristine enters the house in the woods, John follows her in and even cuts the bird for dinner! Isn't it a bit small? John ends up getting assimilated and sent off to space.

KRISTINE Y. (Played by Kristine Kusner) Kristine is John's inseparable girlfriend and the daughter of an FBI agent. Due to the problems existing between their families (al la Hatfields and McCoys, but without all the boom-sticks) Kristine and John run away together to get away from their parents and stumble upon the house in the woods. Kristine is the first to enter, giving John no other choice but to follow her in. Kristine takes a nice nap, ah, how relaxing. Kristine, along with John, is assimilated by Grandma Borg and goes off to space with the "gang".

OLD WOMAN/GRANDMA BORG. (Played Joshua Gulch) What an ugly woman! The Old Woman lives alone in a house in the woods with her faithful companion, Torgo. As we learn, the Old Woman actually comes to us from outer space and has big big plans for John and Kristine. She's already got Hansel and Grettle, and now she's got some non-German kids to add to her collection. But, she also lives a second live(s?), as Grandma Borg. As Grandma Borg, she can assimilate others to add to her collective. And she does just that to John, Kristine, and Jakab. Maybe Torgo, too, but who can tell?

TORGO. (Played by James Eldred) Torgo is the wittless servant to the Old Woman. He's TALL. Real tall. And not particularly the sharpest crayon, either. It's not known how long he's been with the Old Woman, or how he got to her assistant. But it's probably that he's too dumb to notice how he's being manipulated and mistreated.

DETECTIVE JAKAB. (Played by Jakab Norton) Detective Jakab is hired by John's parents to track down John and Kristine. He had previously been hired onto the Hansel and Grettle case, but could not convict the Old Woman. When he returns to the house in the woods, he'll never report back, as Grandma Borg finally assimilates him and takes him out to space with her.

JOHN'S FATHER. (Played by John MacAfee) Mr. Mantwan is a GRAFIA leader who hires Detective Jakab to find the kids. He had apparently had John's phone bugged and knew John and Kristine's plans, as he had some of his men ready to nab the kids as they came out of the woods.

JOHN'S MOTHER. (Played by Sheryl MacAfee) Mrs. Mantwan is a very concerned mother, and wishes John and Kristine back in one piece, and so, along with her husband, hires Detective Jakab to find them.

FRED. (Played by Bryan MacAfee) Fred is apparently in cahoots with the Old Woman somehow. He lives with Bill, and is okay with Bill's... abilities, even though he gets confused. He also doesn't mind getting sprayed with cold water. All he cares about is that the TV's broken. He ventures off to space with his pals. Fred's a bit of a putz.

BILL. (Played by Brian Scholl) Bill's one of those people who can be everywhere at once, quite literally. He lives with Fred, and among the two, it's not too clear who's in charge. Bill seems to be in charge of the entire group, issuing orders to everyone. Bill beams up with everyone. It isn't clear whether Bill is one person or multiple people.

MAN PUTTING SIDING ON HIS HOUSE. (Played by Man Putting Siding On His House) This man diligently applies siding to his house as John and Kristine walk past on their way to the woods.
