Medium: Pen & ink and colored pencil on paper. Oh boy, I heart blimps something fierce. Using a photograph in Hindenburg: An Illustrated History as a guide, I drew this picture of the Spirit of Akron, registry GZ-22, also known as the Goodyear Blimp. On 29 October 1999 Spirit of Akron crashed into trees near, appropriately enough, Akron, Ohio. The airship was declared a loss and scrapped. When I drew this, I had no clue that the blimp had been lost not even a month previous. |
